DIY Summer Body Scrub

Sweet summer months are just weeks away, and I am gearing up for all the impending fun to be had!
One thing that changes immediately with the season change is my skin care routine. I do my best to keep my skin care routine as simple as possible, but let’s face it – I am a week away from turning 33 and the signs are showing. With that said, making sure the types of products I put on my skin are just as important as the results that may come. For about two years now, I have turned to organic coconut oil as my main staple on my beauty counter. Can you believe it??
Coconut Oil has so many benefits for your skin – It has Vitamin E – which is a big player in preventing premature aging (yes, please!). Coconut Oil helps your skin retain moisture – aiding in your skin staying hydrated for an extended amount of time. Protein packed, which helps repair tissues and boost cellular health. Last but certainly not least, it has antibacterial properties – the germ freak in me loves this benefit!
At night, I take a teaspoon of coconut oil, and massage my face. Coconut oil is an amazing makeup remover – removing even the most stubborn waterproof mascara. I rinse with cool water, and dab my skin dry with a towel and then continue my creams and serums for the night!
If your experiencing dry summer skin, I have the answer for you!
Summer Scrub Recipe
- 1/2 cup melted coconut oil
- 2 cups cane sugar
- 15 drops essential oil
I’ve created the most incredible DIY Body Scrub to be your holy grail of summer beauty products – this is all you need! With summer comes flip flops, bare feet and dry sun kissed skin that could use a little TLC. This decadent body scrub is perfect for re-hydrating your skin and removing all of the yucky dead skin cells!
Simply grab a large bowl and a whisk, follow this recipe and store in an airtight container.
Use as a body scrub (not on your face, these sugar crystals are too harsh for that!) or focus on dry cracked summer feet!
If you choose to mix to scents like I did (lavender + lemon) use 15 drops of each!
This is such a fun DIY gift idea to surprise friends and family with this summer, or as party favors!
