3. Chagrin Valley Soap and Salve
Ida Friedman Kasdan, a registered nurse and former science teacher with a Master’s in Biology, was increasingly concerned about how many chemicals were present in skin care. So, what started as a “hobby” of creating lovely, all-natural soaps in her home became her life’s most important work. After two weeks of using her Goat Milk and Oatmeal Soap, her husband’s eczema completely disappeared. Shortly after, Ida decided to launch an online website, expanding her “hobby” into a fully-fledged family business.

Chagrin Valley Soap and Salve has grown into a full line of natural and USDA-certified organic skin and hair care products. We’re proud to carry this local brand and stock our shelves with a variety of handmade Natural Soaps (try bestsellers like the Lavender Rosemary, Sea Salt and Seaweed, Coconut Shea and Castile and Cocoa), Shampoo Bars, Deodorants and nourishing Herbal Salves.

Heinen's Grocery Store

By Heinen's Grocery Store

In 1929, Joe Heinen opened the doors of a small butcher shop on the east side of Cleveland, Ohio, aiming to establish himself as the city’s purveyor of quality meats. As customers came into Heinen’s new shop for their meat purchases, they began asking him to carry groceries as well. Joe added homemade peanut butter, pickles and donuts and by 1933, business had grown enough to include a line of produce and canned goods. Heinen’s Grocery Store was born.
